Baby It's Cold Outside

I saw a sweater pillow the other day.  It reminded me of all things warm and cozy.  This led me to rush home and ransack the place for a neglected sweater.  Jackpot came in the form of a shrunken gray JCrew sweater.  I was soaring!  Quicker than quick, I took a scissor to that puppy and like ten minutes later I had a pillow form.  I know, I know, I could've donated the sweater etc.  But for the record, I don't donate damaged things.  Shrunken is damaged.  So instead of trash, it became accessory to couch.  As God is my witness, I will be making more of these suckers well into Spring.  It was so easy to make.  Only one suggestion and something I didn't do:  Use a pillow form.  I used pollyfill.  It worked fine but the pillow will lose shape the second someone sits on it.  Constant fluffing is necessary with my pillow.  Yours won't need to be fluffed if you use a pillow form.  Trust me.

Here's what the offending JCrew sweater looked like:

I cut the sleeves and the neck off.  Then I turned it inside out.  I sewed the bottom of the sweater, then sewed the top leaving a three inch opening for stuffing.

It turned out like this:

I turned it right side out and proceeded to stuff that sucker like a Thanksgiving turkey.  After it was stuffed to my satisfaction, I threaded a needle and sewed the three inch opening closed using an invisible stitch.

Here's how it turned out:

I really like it!  I can't wait until I find another victim sweater!
